1. About DronePilotsUK

DronePilotsUK (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides an online platform where clients can search for and contact independent UAV/drone operators (“Pilots”) across the UK. The website is a not‑for‑profit directory and does not itself provide drone services.

By using the DronePilotsUK website, you (“Client”, “you”, “your”) agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Nature of the Service

  • The website is a directory and introduction service only. It allows you to view pilot profiles and contact Pilots directly.
  • Any work you agree with a Pilot (including scope, price, timing, deliverables and payment) is a separate contract between you and the Pilot, not with DronePilotsUK.
  • We do not act as agent, broker, employer or partner of any Pilot and we do not supervise or control their work.

3. Pilot Information and Insurance

  • Pilot profiles may include details such as qualifications, CAA registration, insurance provider, and policy dates, which are based on information and documents supplied by the Pilot.
  • We may perform reasonable checks on pilot identity, qualifications and insurance at the time of initial verification or renewal, but we cannot and do not guarantee that any Pilot’s insurance or approvals remain valid, current or adequate at the time of your job.
  • Some policies renew monthly or automatically; we cannot monitor every renewal or cancellation in real time. You acknowledge that insurance status can change without our knowledge.

Your responsibilities:

Before instructing a Pilot or permitting any flight, you agree to:

  • Ask the Pilot to provide up‑to‑date proof of insurance (certificate/schedule), including:
    • Insurer name
    • Policy number
    • Coverage type (including cover for commercial drone operations)
    • Policy expiry / renewal date and public liability limit.
  • Confirm that the insurance is appropriate for the nature, value and risk of your project.
  • Seek independent advice (legal or insurance) if you are unsure about adequacy of cover.

DronePilotsUK is not responsible if a Pilot is uninsured, under‑insured or operating outside the scope of their insurance or regulatory permissions.

4. Client Responsibilities and Conduct

You agree to:

  • Use the website lawfully and only to find and contact Pilots for genuine drone‑related work.
  • Provide accurate and complete information to Pilots about the site, environment and nature of the work so they can assess legality, safety and insurance needs.
  • Respect that the Pilot is responsible for deciding whether a flight is legal and safe, and may refuse or modify work on safety or regulatory grounds.
  • Comply with any site access, permissions or third‑party consents that fall on you (for example, landowner permissions, building access, local restrictions).

You must not:

  • Use the website to solicit unlawful, unsafe or non‑compliant flights.
  • Misrepresent your identity or your authority to commission work.
  • Attempt to bypass safety rules or ask a Pilot to ignore CAA or other regulations.

5. No Professional Advice

All information on the website (including articles, FAQs and pilot profile content) is for general information only and is not legal, aviation, safety or insurance advice.

You should obtain your own professional advice where needed, for example regarding:

  • Regulatory requirements for your project or location
  • Insurance adequacy and risk allocation
  • Contract terms with the Pilot.

6. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We do not warrant that any Pilot listed is suitable, competent, insured, available, or compliant with all laws at all times.
  • We are not responsible for:
    • The performance or non‑performance of any Pilot
    • Any loss, damage, injury or claim arising from or in connection with drone operations arranged through the website
    • Any errors or omissions in pilot‑supplied information or documents.

You agree that:

  • Any dispute, claim, loss or damage relating to drone work or services must be pursued directly against the Pilot (and/or their insurer), not against DronePilotsUK.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with your use of the website is limited to the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months, and in no event will we be liable for indirect, consequential or loss‑of‑profit type damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

7. Content, Profiles and Accuracy

  • Pilot profiles, logos, images, service descriptions and other content are provided by Pilots or third parties. We do not routinely verify all such content.
  • We may edit, hide or remove profiles or content at any time (for example, where information appears inaccurate, misleading, out of date, or inappropriate), but we are not obliged to monitor the site continuously.
  • You should not rely solely on our listings. Always perform your own due diligence before entering into any contract with a Pilot.

8. Website Availability and Changes

  • We aim to keep the website available, secure and up to date, but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error‑free operation.
  • We may suspend, modify or discontinue any part of the website, or update these Terms, at any time. Changes take effect when published on the website.

9. Data Protection and Privacy

  • We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy (separate document), which explains what data we collect, how it is used and your rights.
  • When you contact a Pilot through the website, your contact details and enquiry will be shared with that Pilot so they can respond. Each Pilot is responsible for their own compliance with data protection laws when dealing with your data.

10. Third‑Party Links and Services

  • The website may contain links to third‑party sites (including pilot websites, insurers, regulators or other resources). These are provided for convenience only.
  • We do not endorse or control these third‑party sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, security or any losses arising from your use of them.

11. Complaints, Reporting and Removal of Pilots

  • If you believe a Pilot has misrepresented their qualifications, insurance or compliance, or has acted improperly, you can report this via our contact details on the website.
  • We may, at our discretion, investigate complaints and may suspend or remove Pilots where there is credible evidence of:
    • Misrepresentation
    • Lack of valid insurance
    • Repeated safety issues or non‑compliance.
  • We are not obliged to share our investigation details or decisions, but will use reports to improve the reliability of the directory.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with your use of the website are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have non‑exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute.

13. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the DronePilotsUK website, you confirm that you:

  • Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions
  • Agree to be bound by them
  • Are legally capable of entering into binding contracts in your jurisdiction.
